One of the most magical scenes I ever got to be a part of was when the sun sets over the dunes of Paoay, Ilocos, and casts its last rays across the flat sands. We were illuminated in a light that made us feel almost angelic. What was harsh bright light all day became unbelievably soft and pale. It was ethereal.
I could have stayed there all evening to watch the light fade so softly into night. I witnessed how the skies transitioned from yellow, and orange, to purple.
I want to say so much more about this experience, but it was just one of those things you had to be there for. I’ll be honest – you’ll be surprised how even these photos that I love so much don’t hardly do the place justice. You just really have to see it with your own eyes. That moment when the sun sweetly touched everything – the dunes and the tourists, it was so fleeting. But I know I’ll remember it perfectly, as it’s a sight hard to forget.
